This totally reminded me to go refresh my D2X USEast characters... I played around with them a bit, but I have completely forgotten how to play. If you all are in the same realm, do you have any need for a level 88 Druid in your party by any chance? I have a sweet Oak Sage, oh yeah, baby.

I'd probably play like I was drunk cause I have no idea what I'm doing anymore. Maybe I should play *while* drunk. Hmm.

Bwahaha, I am on the same server, but I'm a level thirteen. I think our highest level in the party is thirty one right now. I cannot *imagine* what we'd do about that. How about I get back to you on that? ;)

Well, in the same tradition as KoL, I can just plain old help you out! I'm not really looking for items/experience anymore, and I have always wanted to play D2X as a *roleplaying* game, though no one has ever been interested in it... I think it'd be pretty funny to be cracking insults at the monsters and whatnot as we played. Perhaps developing intra-party personality conflicts, or maybe someone will decide to go all PETM (People for the Ethical Treatment of Monsters) and try to stop the others from all the senseless killing?

That would be hysterical. Especially the last point.... but then perhaps my hippie sentiments are getting the better of me here.

I don't know, though, how you'd manage to do that much conversing while actually interacting in game. I'm still tempted to think that if you want clear, succint, timely conversations in D2, you need to a) be in the same room with people, or b) have a speakerphone. I mean, the *enter* "typing" *enter* thing is cumbersome to the point of ludicrousness. Unless you have a third arm. Or are particularly skilled a blindly typing with your nose.

This is clearly why D2X lost my interest... But I think it could work, if the on-screen characters just acted just like characters in D&D *actually* would if played according to their Players' actions. Example of player conversation:

A: "So, hey guys, uh should we attack those demons that are rushing our way?"

B: "Um, wait, lemme check my spellbooks, I might have something useful."

C: *twiddles thumbs*

D: "Anybody want some pizza? I am hun-gray!"

B: "Crap. I left my whole binder in the other room. Be right back." *leaves*

C: *snaps out of it* "Huh? Demons? What? DM, could you repeat what you just said?"

A: "Whatever. I'm pulling out my +5 vorpal longsword of demon-slaying doom and annihilation power mega ultra weapon, and getting ready for some dice-rolling action."

B: *returns* "Uh, yeah. Okay, where were we?"

D: "Gettin' some za!"

And so on. :)

First off, hi all. I'm married with a 16 month old son, so my gaming time is pretty limited these days.

Used to be into AD&D heavily. Haven't done that in years. Just now getting back into steadily playing KoL. I do play City of Heroes... quite fun. Played Star Wars Galaxies for about 3 months. Looking very much forward to the Middle Earth Online MMORPG coming out next year *drool*.

In mid 2002 I was quite addicted to Ravenblack's vampires, since it was the only net-game I could play over a very tight-arsed corporate firewall. I achieved the painful feet (sic) of being the first vampire to accurately map Ravenblack's city (40,000 squares traversed!):x and made this huge and cumbersome application in MS Excel (The Almanack) to track my movements. The Almanack which can still be found in the files section of the Freedom Trade Alliance board. It has been superceded but I'm told, is still kept up to date. I use my vampire name Shambly Hermit on the Flickr community site and in The Gameneverending.

After I gave up the life of an undead wanderer, I suffered multiple personality disorder in the brilliantly surreal prototype of The Gameneverending from September until early 2003 when it was thrown away. :( The lovingly curated GNE Museum, the fanzine Ludus Perpetuus, Paperlane and Bobbleton are all that are left to remind us of it.

The GNE social framework (Java/Flash chat applet and groups) survived and helped keep our family of GNE prototypers together. In December 2003, we badgered Ludicorp, the company behind GNE, into using the GNE social framework to create Flickr, a community site built around photo-sharing.

The second prototype of GNE, which we were assured would come online in March, (promises, promises :-P) has just begun to take shape. Like an iceberg, the bulk of it is invisible leaving only a roughly hewn map of the world above the surface. Nevertheless, one can pick fruit, catch butterflies, make juice and practise playing the banjo.

Greetings

Ok... Currently I am giving my life over to KoL. During the down times, I am in a Vampire: Sabbat game, and I have two friends that are writing their own RPG, and Synkronos and I are in the playtesting group.

Recently, I stopped playing in a Witchcraft game, which had arisen out of the ashes of a DnD 3.0 game.

I am also an SJ Games MiB (Man in Black), so I play a lot of Munchkin, Chez *, Ninja Burger, Dork Tower board game, Spooks and Strange Synergy.

I have also signed on to be an Atlas Games representative after my friends bought Beer Money and Lunch money.

But the great love of my RPG life will always be Ars Magica (another good reason to be an Atlas Games Rep), followed by Rolemaster/Cyberspace and the world of ShadowRun (the dicing system is not my favourite).

As for computer games, while I have wast^H^H^H^H spent many hours playing Wing Commander and all it's sequels, the only other game I really played was Diablo/DiabloII... though not online (lag times to South Africa just make it impossible).

Cheers

Currently i am enjoying the entertaiment provided by Diablo, still an awsome game. But seriously, what will life and entertaiment be without Halo. I mean ITS HALO. Long live Xbox Live and Halo2, hours of nonstop fun.

I just finished Knights of the Old Republic. It was fun but I'd be unlikely to play it again except to play evil, so put it in the "enjoy once in a while" bracket. The same will most likely be true of KOTOR 2 when it comes out for PC.

Other games I love playing:

- Baldurs Gate 1 and 2 (completed several times and intend to play again)
- Civilization 2 (NOT 3 - I prefer the older version)
- Alpha Centauri
- Dungeon Keeper 1
- Angband (the OTHER famous roguelike other than Nethack)
- Minesweeper (3/28/85)

Games I have occasionally played and enjoy once in a while but not too regularly:

- Nethack
- Dungeon Keeper 2 (not as cool as DK1 - and no dragons!)
- The games of the "Jedi Knight" series (Jedi Knight, Mysteries of the Sith, Jedi Outcast, Jedi Academy - all fun to beat once, then they get wearing)
- Diablo 2
- Icewind Dale 1 plus expansions (completed twice, unlikely to play again)
- Planescape Torment (completed once, unlikely to play again more than once so as to play evil this time)
