Are the PM's fixed now? I found, when I used it, PM windows would pop up but not tell me who they were from or allow me to reply to them at all.

There appears to be a problem handling ignore and contact lists. When players on either list login, "Chat of Loathing" notifies you by flashing the contacts list and attempts to open a new PM window. This is a known issue.
Jick is also concerned re: How often the client refreshes chat.
Also a tabbed chat applet is in the works and should debut with the next major release of KoL Mafia on Feb 20th.
