Hey, I was just wondering if there were any special requirements to get into KoL University. Like, level, or reputation?

Mojomaiden contacted my clan leader, and asked bashy to tell us about it...

Also, could someone enable me for the Kol U forum? I messaged Mojomaiden about it, but didn't get a responce.

I believe the university is full. Mojomaiden also messaged Phil and asked him to spread it around The Rye, but by the time I replied, she already had a full compliment of volunteers. I assume this is still the case, so I guess you and I have to wait to help.

The university itself is still most certainly accepting new members.

We do not currently need mentors because all of our current members have mentors. I'm hopeful we will. :)

My reponse to Phil is that there were more mentors than students. KoL U is always looking for strong students - they are usually referenced to us by seasoned players.

Balex, my apologies, I did not respond to you and forgot to have access granted to KoL U Forums for you. Fuji and Borax, would you please fix this mix-up for me?

What is the purpose of KoL U?

I see it listed as a visible board on here, but I don't have access. (I'm of the opinion such boards be listed as Private [Hidden], since I can't access it why should I see it?)

From the discussion in this thread, it seems as if it is some kind of method for learning about KoL. It also seems as if you pretty much already need to know quite a bit about KoL to even get in.

As I don't understand the purpose, the whole thing doesn't seem very useful. If it's a way to learn more, but you already have to have learned quite a bit to get in, what do you gain by getting into it?

There's a lot of people who could probably explain it better, but here's my stab at it.

KoL University is a clan. Basically, we go grab some promising newbies (as opposed to n00bs), bring them in, give them a mentor who teaches them about the game. Mentors are matched with mentees on area of interest where possible (for example, they wouldn't give me, a social guru, to someone who wanted to learn about bots).

The mentors are not solely from W23 and Loading Dock, they're members of several different prominant clans who're looking for a way to help out the new kids.

In theory (as the theory was described to me, at least), KoLU "graduates" will find themselves invited to join the finest clans in the Kingdom, and will be able to help shape the future of the game.

Of course, as always happens, the University is acquiring its own life and its own personality as a clan.

So, since I'm level 24, and have been playing KoL since June, KoLU isn't for me?

That is basically both my point and my question.

So now the only way to join one of the "finest clans in the kingdom" is to start as a newbie and be mentored?

Actually, I'm pretty sure we don't take multis....

Here's my question:
Is there any way we can help with the University without being a member? I'd like to help with it, but I'm not going to leave my clan.

Personally, I think there can be room for more than one mentor per member. Since we have a bunch of people who would like to be mentors, I think we should use that. Maybe we could even switch mentors and members around every now and then, just so everybody gets a chance to get to know each other a little bit better.
