Grignr has decided to work on a browser extension for KoL.
This will not be an automated client.
It is intended to cover the middle ground between a basic HTML Helper and a full client such as KoL CLI, KoL Mafia and KoL Melion.

Input regarding features you'd like to see is invited. For starters:
  1. Tabbed chat-pane with separate pane for PMs
  2. Moon effects sheet interpreted from current moon phases
Resting, Relaxing, Baios, Stat days, Wereseal
  3. Campground - toast, evilfood
  4. PvP search pane

Okay, for starters you can make a list of features you'd like to see. The current layout is three "pages" with one visible at a time. One is a vanilla HTML helper, which has KoL in an iframe and needs various basic links and shortcuts for the game. Another is going to be a custom interface. Main content will be a chat interface with channels and PM window. Probably a character sheet as well. Needs input on layout and content. Multiple chat windows, tabbed windows, what data on character sheet, etc. The third window is automation. So far it covers basic adventuring, campground, simplified (but not automated) shopping, mixing and using items. This area is very open to expansion.

Be as detailed as you want. It's better I get an idea and reject/postpone it than missing useful features. Smile

tehdangrus and Synkronos have expressed an interest in working on this project. Good luck to them and Grignr.

I don't know coding, or browser functions, or anything technical, so please forgive me if I trespass into the idiotic or asinine. And I don't use anything fancy in addition to my FireFox browser. I tried that chat script that color codes and gives tabs for PM and bans, but it made the chat impossible (for me) to follow.

I'm also fixated on making it easier for Mods to communicate. Right now, we either have to spam up Lounge, PM each other individually, or convince everyone to log onto Yahoo IM. It is tedious.

If there was some way that Mods could all join a PM, or open up another chat channel just for Mods....again, I don't know code, but I'm assuming it would mean that Mods would just have to know how to do this and not share it with other folks, versus the browser being able to identify a person as a Mod and therefore allow access.

Anyhow, thanks for your time and consideration.

:D

Is there no /mod channel? This seems like the easiest way to sort the comms problem out. For that, you would obviously need to speak to Jick. And then just enforce the rule that every mod /listens to /mod

I've asked Jick for /mod when speaking to him in Lounge, in PMs, in Mod forum posts, and in person.

Each time I've gotten a solid "No".
