HOMESTAR FREAKS

Homestar Freaks is Lacey’s clan. Formed in April 2004, when she was a mere newb herself, Homestar Freaks was originally created solely for the purpose of culling together as many fans of homestarrunner.com as possible. In recent days that entry requirement has eased somewhat, and most applicants are accepted regardless of their opinion of HSR. Because of this more or less open-door policy, Homestar Freaks has grown to tremendous size, reaching above 700 members at times. Following the lead of Elarrina and Belgarion of Clan Rivendell, Lacey ran the most well-known Clan Looter site in KOL history for several months. The site was hosted on Pimonkey’s(see Sparkle Motion) server, and when it went down in (August 2004), it took the entire scammer list with it. The anti-looter project was continued by ChefBoiAreDee(see KOL Addicts), who began work on his own, separate list. Homestar Freaks has never been active in clan warfare, though they are occasional victims of retaliation attacks from players unhappy with Lacey’s moderator policies.

In December 2004, Lacey left Homestar Freaks to join Philanthropists; she left the clan in the care of kotter (#49464).

Major members:

-Lacey (#26013) – Clan leader; Chat moderator; Forum moderator since Sept '04. Lacey is one of the older chat moderators still active in-game, and has been a staple in /Newbie (and the bane of chat trolls) for as long as many players can remember.

Lacey, who is Carter on the forums (and in real life), was made a moderator of most of the KoL forums after a rash of troll posts from members of EHOWA forums (not affiliated with KoL in anyway), first in the Ring of Flame and later outside it. A few of the EHOWA posters still check in now and then, and have earned the begrudging respect of the ROF’ers, but, so far as we know, none have actually attempted the game itself.

In November 2004, Lacey was publicly targeted for mafia hits by Dapaper. In a forum thread called “Get Carter”, he announced his plan to attack her, other players in positions of power, and generally anyone who angered him while he was doing so. It was not the first time Dapaper and Lacey had butted heads. The forum thread, which ran some four pages, was eventually deleted by Jick, and Dapa laid off after he ran out of Meat.
