THE NINJA TURTLES

Formed April 5, 2004, by pili_aloha and iamthekiller. The Ninja Turtles may fairly be called the fastest-growing clan in KoL history; by June 2004, they were easily the largest clan in the game, and at some point in June crossed the one thousand member mark.

During their rapid expansion, The Ninja Turtles took the business of clan administration quite seriously, and set up clan forums, an IRC channel, and a highly organized system of power distribution among trusted members. This included players specifically charged with the duties of member naming, clan recruiting, promoting/ booting members, supplying full outfits to the clan stash for member use, sending “welcome packages” to newcomers, low-cost buffing, and serving as watchdog over the clan stash. Frequent clan raiding is a fact of life for large clans, especially those who accept more or less everyone who applies, and the Ninja Turtles are no strangers to such pillagery. To combat stash raiding, in June 2004 they started a player known as the “clan mule”, whose sole purpose was to hold expensive or useful items as a shelter from stash raiders. The Turtles considered becoming major players in clan warfare, especially at the encouragement of Ubershade, but they ultimately decided against large-scale devotion to it.

Though they have to some degree been overshadowed by KOL Addicts and The Goddess’s Knights in recent times, they are still one of the largest clans in the game. Because of the organization of the clan, their list of noteworthy members is quite long, and is supplemented with a number of important clan stories that seemed too specific to include in this general overview.

Major Members:

-pili_aloha (#17517) – Co-founder of the Ninja Turtles, pili_aloha was one of the major shapers of the clan in its first few months. She recruited many of the other members listed below. She no longer plays KoL on a regular basis.

-iamthekiller (#19277) – Co-founder of the Ninja Turtles. After pili_aloha’s departure, iamthekiller became, in essence, the leader of the clan, and has been its main administrator since.

-agarciaz20 (#33946) – Agarciaz20 has been the “Ninja Promoter” for most of the clan’s life, which means he is charged with the duties of adjusting clan karma and booting the (literally) hundreds of members who do not meet clan requirements or break clan rules.

-Brainsander (#41334) – Brainsander runs the clan website and was a very active policymaker for the clan.

-King_Pikachu (#57762) – King Pikachu was an enormously rich player who bankrolled clan stash replenishment and contests on a regular basis; his karma ranged in the hundreds of millions. Because the clan stash was raided so frequently, King Pikachu advocated aggressive booting policies, and was frequently upset with what he perceived as the lackluster job performance of the stash watchmen. Disillusioned with the game after Black Sunday, King_Pikachu quit KoL, and only rarely logs on now.

-ataindre (#64759) – Clan contest runner.

-Ohayou (#64935) – Ohayou is well-loved for his plethora of Javascript utilities, which he offers free to clanmates.

-Ubershade (#43963) – Ubershade campaigned hard to turn The Ninja Turtles into a major clan war participant, though this did not come to pass. He was in charge of the clan’s war room, and of the attacks they did make. His account was since deleted, probably in the wave of deletions made in November 2004.

-stringbeans (#72779) – Stringbeans joined the Ninja Turtles in June 2004, and was given charge of clan promotions. After the KingGamera incident (detailed below), she became head recruiter for the clan and was responsible for the influx of hundreds of new members. Although she was an important and highly respected administrative figure, she ultimately decided to leave the Ninja Turtles in mid-October 2004 to seek a smaller clan with a tighter community, and settled in Aflubadubdub!, where she is currently a member. She is also a well-known forum poster.

-kinky_sex_mace (#28944) – Kinky was an early recruit to the clan, and obtained a leadership position quickly. He left the clan when given the chance to join Alliance From Hell, but soon returned at the request of his upset former clanmates. He retained his leader powers, and was a key player in the retaliation against clan looter KingGamera (see below).

Brainsander and Kinky did not get along well; the Ninja Turtles have weathered a great deal of infighting among members, but the bad blood between these two spilled out into the open when, after a series of fights over various aspects of clan government, Kinky placed Brainsander on his Ignore list. Brainsander then demoted Kinky, but did not remove his Enforcer (booting) powers; Kinky then booted Brainsander from the clan, and continued to do so again and again every time Brainsander rejoined, using both his own and other peoples’ accounts. Kinky left the clan in late August 2004 and re-joined Alliance From Hell; after Jimbowong split off from AFH, Kinky joined Aflubadubdub!, and has been there since. Although he was not involved in the public exploit, Kinky discovered the Canadia adventure site while it was still on the test server. Kinky is also a noted firebrand on the forums and in Villa chat, where he was an early comer.

-raider8169 (#71499) – Clan recruiter, and well-known forum poster.

-Jebuspwns (#74982) – Popular member and clan promoter; no longer in the Ninja Turtles.

-KingGamera (playerid unknown) – Legendary clan looter. KingGamera apparently, at one time, held a rank in the Ninja Turtles administration, but was not very well liked; in early July, 2004, citing “behavior reasons (abuse, racial slurs, public calls for PvP attacks against clan members)”, Brainsander had him cut from the clan. He was accidentally readmitted; he then donated several million meat to the clan coffers, and proceeded to loot the entirety of the stash, with the exception of some dense meat stacks. He was discovered by stringbeans, who found him gloating over it in their IRC chat channel. Having been punted, he formed his own clan, “The Foot Clan”, and set about trying to lure Ninja Turtles members into it. Kinky_sex_mace joined with a multi, and when KingGamera announced he was planning to leave the game, kinky’s multi was given control of the clan. Kinky used his newfound powers to boot KingGamera from his own clan and embarrass some other Turtle clan looters; KingGamera is believed to have deleted his character some time after.

-Fungo the mildly annoying (#63762) – While Fungo is not an active participant in clan activities, he is a well-known forum poster, and a highly ranked powergamer; he is one of the ten most muscular players in the Kingdom. He was also an active Trade buffer for some time.

-ParanoidAndroid (#67850) – booted from the Ninja Turtles for clan looting in June 2004; later member of One Step Beyond and the reborn Alliance From Hell.

-Muskstick (#54047) – booted for clan looting in June 2004. Later member of Philanthropists. Muskstick’s account was hacked and deleted in October 2004.

-Clan Mule (#108763) – Created as a warehouse for clan items (to keep them from stash raiding) and meat (so that clan funds for giveaways, buying drives, etc., was more easily accessible).
